I spent years reading astrology charts before I ever touched the Gene Keys, and the first thing that surprised me was how little I had to relearn. They’re looking at the same sky. What changes is what they do with it. Astrology mostly describes who you are. The Gene Keys describe who you’re becoming. Here’s how the two fit together.

The shared foundation

Both systems start in the same place. The birth chart, meaning your date, time, and place of birth, gets translated into planetary positions.

Astrology reads those positions through the zodiac: signs, houses, aspects. The Gene Keys read the same positions through the 64 hexagrams of the I-Ching, slicing the 360-degree wheel into 64 segments rather than 12 signs. Your Sun didn’t only land in a zodiac sign.
